No matter what you do, your background and identity is in your blood...
19 year-old Nhi Vo.tells IDIF about her experience immigrating from Vietnam at the age of 5 and how being apart of a community with not many others like her.

We asked what storytelling meant to her, she says "Storytelling is a way of expressing yourself, which also informs others about basically anything. Storytelling can create a sense of connection between the storyteller and the audience. It captures people’s attention and brings the story to life.

"I chose to talk about that period in my life because it’s something that is relatable. I’m sure there are many young adults that went through the same thing I did, which was growing up in a predominantly white town as a POC. "

"It can be very consuming and slowly you start losing yourself and your identity along the way. No matter what you do, your background and identity is in your blood. You shouldn’t be ashamed or hide it in any way. You have learn to appreciate and love yourself."
